Moose, Bear and Flightseeing!
Wildlife has been active in the neighborhood this week. The other day while washing dishes I glanced out the window and saw a mama moose and baby moose in the trees just over the fence from our backyard. After munching there for a while they walked down the side of the house and passed our front porch before heading away. I got a very good look from my vantage point of our backyard balcony. I have put up some photos in our Alaska summer 2008 photo gallery. Then early yesterday morning the Tougas family discovered a black bear devouring the salmon that Joe had smoking in their backyard smoker. It was heading over to check out the chickens when Joe scared it away. Yesterday Paul decided to treat me to a flightseeing trip since it was such a beautiful day. We flew out over Resurrection Bay, above Aialik Glacier, the Harding Icefield and then followed the Resurrection river back to Seward. It was a spectacular trip and very interesting to see everything from the air. We got a really good look at all the cracks and crevices in the glacier and also I got my first look at the immense Harding Icefield. It was an awesome trip and a great way to spend a sunny afternoon. Check out the photos in the album. Aside from that, everything is going well. I have nearly finished all my painting projects and just have two more walls to paint and I am done. Our lawn is progressing (you can catch a glimpse of the work in progress in one of the photos with the moose) slowly. The baby has been growing heaps and I am starting to look very pregnant. It has also been enjoying lots of kicking and moving around which has been fun to watch and feel.
Hope everyone is well. Love April and Paul
