Another photo of … Isla!
Trip to NZ booked!
Our big news this week is we have booked a trip home to New Zealand for June. We felt it was a good time to bring Isla home before she was old enough to run all around the plane! We will be arriving in Christchurch on the 26th of May with a night in Seattle on the way. Paul will be there for about two weeks, leaving again on the 6th of June. Summer in Alaska is his busy season so he couldn’t spare more time away at that time of year. Since I will be on my summer holiday, Isla and I will stay on for another few weeks and fly back to Alaska on the 26th June. We are lucky enough to have Jeannie to fly back with us to come for a holiday in Alaska and to help me with Isla on the plane.
We have been loving having some beautiful snowy weather the last few days. Isla is continuing to entertain and delight, although Mum and Dad are giving me a hard time about how many times I tell her how sweet she is! As you can see from the second photo Mum and Dad are being very useful folding nappies! 
We will put another video up soon, since she is beginning to make chuckle noises when she is particularly happy or excited.
Here are a few photos from yesterday and today. Isla is just over nine weeks old.

Mum and Dad frolicking
Today we had a nice drive over to Cooper landing for lunch. Mum and Dad were pleased to see some fresh snow fall and enjoyed a brief play in it on the way home.
Some new photos of Isla taken yesterday in her new cardigan. One of them she is busy talking which is why her mouth is wide open and 
the other she is doing her new favorite activity- sucking on her fist. The other is from today all bundled up in her car seat. We don’t often see Isla with her eyes open in the car seat, because usually within seconds of getting in it she is beginning to fall asleep!
Eight Week Weigh-in
Isla turned eight weeks on Tuesday and we had to take her to the doctor for her well baby check up. If you have been thinking she is looking a little porky in the recent photos you would be right! She tipped the scales at 13.4 pounds! The doctor said her weight gain was ‘phenomenal’ and then went on to say that she was going to be quite the little ‘chunk’! Not exactly what a proud Mum wants to hear. Here is a photo of her all wrapped up and ready to go to the doctors, wearing her new hat and scarf combo (thanks Marlene and Geoff!).

Finally after many attempts, I managed to get some smiles on camera. It turns out it is very hard to hold the camera pointed at her face and get her to smile at the same time since she doesn’t want to smile at the camera, she just wants to frown at it! 
Ham Meal
Last night we had four couples and a couple of children around for a ham meal. One of Paul’s friends gave him a ham with the stipulation that he got to come around to eat it, so we had a few people around to help. Mum and Dad had an opportunity to meet a few of our friends and we all enjoyed the ham. Isla was very curious about the other babies and they were pretty keen to check her out too. (Emma you will notice the very nice pink pinafore she is wearing in one of 
the photos!)
Dinner at the Tougas house
We had a very nice meal at the Tougas house, with Stewart and Kathy, Mum and Dad and the whole Tougas family. Mum and Dad enjoyed sampling some more King crab and the two sets of Grandparents had a Foosball tournament. Rachel’s puppy, Bella, is finding that Isla gets far too much attention when she is over there and tries all sorts of tactics to get everyone to look at her (including lying on her back next to Isla kicking her legs around when that is what Isla is doing!).
