Five Months!!
Hard to believe that we are posting about Isla being five months already! People tell you the truth when they say it goes really quickly! Isla is wonderful, she is sleeping really well at night – usually from around 7pm until 6am which is awesome. And during the day she is generally up for an hour before sleeping for about an hour. She isn’t quite sitting up by herself yet but she is sitting well with some support. She has fully mastered reaching and grabbing and so you can no longer have her on your lap without moving everything suckable out of reach! She had her first try at rice cereal on Saturday and seemed to have a fairly good idea of eating off a spoon. Here are a few photos from the last week or so.

Five Months today
You better feed
me now, I’m getting hungry …

… No? Okay, I guess I will just have to eat my bib then.
First solid meal.
With Grandpa Howie
Who needs blankets? Or socks? But she is pretty keen on that little lamb that Pearl and Dig gave her!

Update
Ah yes, an update. After two days she was very much well again. Today, day three, she is her old self again. P
Baby’s first cold II
She has a normal temperature but is not a very happy camper. She has been having small, conciliatory meals on the hour, then a bit of a cry and back to sleep. P
First Cold
Not a first we have been eagerly anticipating, but I guess hard to avoid for too long- especially when I am in daily contact with 23 little germ carriers! Poor Isla has a cold and is very blocked up and snuffly. It started late yesterday when she didn’t want to be put down, just wanted to have cuddles and snuggle into my shoulder. This morning her little eyes are all red and teary and she is breathing through her mouth cause her nose is so congested, but she is still trying to talk and smile so at least she seems to be a pretty good patient! So Paul is planning an at home day today and he will be kept busy playing nurse I think.
Happy Easter!
We have had a lovely long weekend for Easter. Today we had the Tougas family around for an Easter brunch. We remembered to take a photo of the table before people sat down at it, but completely forgot to get one with people in it too. Oops, so you will just have to imagine everyone sitting around the table! Notice the delicious poached eggs with hollandaise that Paul made. Last night we had another dump of snow and the two pictures are of Isla and Paul watching the snow fall- the flakes were huge but it is hard to tell in the photo.

Isla’s first Diaper Derby!
Today Paul and I took Isla to the annual Seward Diaper Derby. Isla behaved very well (aside from the spit up she did right down the front of her outfit moments after we arrived!) and took first place in the Elmer Fudd category! Much to our surprise she did not win Queen of the Derby, but we still think she is the cutest baby in town. There are a huge number of little babies in town and nearly all girls. It was very cute seeing them all out in their finest and watching the parents parading them around. I think the dancing contest was probably the funniest, closely followed by the crawling race where at least half the babies just sat there despite the best efforts of their parents.

Isabel Greta Macdonald Born!
We were woken at midnight with some very exciting news last night! Angus rang to say their daughter Isabel Gretta was born on Thursday April 9th. Both Janet and Isabel are doing well. Isabel weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces. She is already a very obliging baby since she arrived when the whole family were already in Christchurch for Emily’s graduation! We are looking forward to seeing some photos of the new arrival.
Happy Easter! Love April, Paul and Isla xxx
