July in brief
We are very glad to finally have our website back up and running. Since we have so much that has been happening in the last month we are just going to have a quick summary. If you want to see any of the photos in more detail you can click on the thumbnail.
The weather this summer has been very wet and overcast but any opportunity we have been getting out; mainly hiking or visiting the playground. We have also used our bike trailer a lot this summer and it has been very handy. Isla is a big fan of riding on the bike and if she isn’t requesting a walk she is asking to bike.
Isla has developed opinions about nearly everything and has mastered lots of command words so that she can more accurately direct us to do what she wants. She has a pretty good vocabulary but is still mainly only putting two and sometimes three words together. Usually when she wants something, e.g. ‘more potato’ or when she doesn’t, e.g. ‘no more sit.’
Lime is doing well too and growing daily. It is an active little thing and we are often treated to a baby aerobic show as my belly leaps and moves.
- 23 weeks pregnant, 28 week photo coming up on Wednesday and there will be a BIG difference. This baby has been growing like crazy!
- Out on the boat with Dad for lunch
- On Tonsina beach
- Isla and Maddy taking a rest while hiking out at Troop Lake
- Isla and Noah at Bear Lake
- Cool Isla with her glasses
- Isla with the girls while hiking out at Bear Lake
- After walking up Mount Marathon, a pretty good hike
- Isla snacking in the bowl of Mount Marathon
- On our fifth wedding anniversary
- Isla and Makena after a walk at the Resurrection trail
- Isla all decked out for Independence day in her patriotic colours
- Sliding at the playground
- Lucy and Isla all wrapped up on a walk at Fourth of July beach. Isla slightly ridiculous in her too big water proofs.
- Isla on one of our many trips to the playground. The sand pit was a particular favorite
- Fishing Trip where I caught three silver salmon and my first ever halibut!
Back!
So we have a newly updated site that will be awesome and up todate again soon. For now though we are doing well. April is happily getting ready for wee babe. The wee babe looked well on the sonogram the other day. Isla has a cold at the moment and is a bit cranky, but we still love her.

Spring Flowers
Some of Aprils flowers and plants are starting to spring up!
Memorial Day Weekend
Lonesome Paul here. It’s pretty quiet around the house with out my girls at home. And for better or worst everything stays where I put them, my glasses, keys and pocket knife are safe but dishes and laundry also stubbornly fail to change form or place without action. It has been fun to live in a house in ‘adult mode’, I took the kid gate down and can use my nightstand again, no one dumps over the cat food, ect..
I did manage to make use of this long weekend. Friday and Saturday were busy in the shop, we got lots of folks out to see the whales and glaciers. Monday Ryan and I rented a canoe and went fishing at Vagt Lake. I even caught one little rainbow trout. The weather has been glorious for about two weeks now. Everyone has been making the most of it. Our garden has lots of little sprouts and April’s flowers are just starting to look really nice. Chickens and cat are well.
And that’s the news from Alaska.
Love Paul
Seattle!
We are having a great time here. We had a nice visit with some of the Tougas family yesterday. We met at Virginia’s house and visited with Robert, Alex, Dino, Vince, Terry, Van, Chuck, Jenny, Emily & Isla’s cousin Beckham.

Isla and Beckham hit it off right away.

And they REALLY hit it off later.

We had a nice vist with Grandma, we went to church together and visited her nice home.

April has been enjoying all the fresh food from the farmers market and store!

Big Brew Day
The guys and I brewed a double batch of beer on Saturday. The 30 gallon brew set up produced 65 gallons of beer this day. We made a pale and a big malty brown ale. The day was epic stating at 7:30am and running longer then we anticipated to around 10:30 by the time we had cleaned. Here are some pics. PT

Solo trip to Fox Island
Hello guys. I took off after work in our little boat, the Oh Snap, and spent the night out at the island. It’s a good thing too as the stove was missing a part and the bbq had toppled off the deck in the winter and will never work again. I was able to get a small cooking fire going in the rain and fried a great steak on cast iron, with salad! When April, Isla and Jeannie are back we’ll have all the pieces together to cook and be comfortable. Have a great weekend everyone. Paul
Things are growing in Alaska
Hello guys,
I’ve had a super busy week in the shop since my return. Lots of folks going out on trips and loving it! The weather has been nice and dry with some sunny days even. Below are some pictures for April of how our garden and lawn are coming. I just mowed and weed whacked our “lawn” for the first time and it went mosly well; there are some rocks. This week should be busy as well which is good, it’s keeps me from thinking of April and Isla too much. Have a great week folks. Paul
New NZ phone
Hello folks. We have a new NZ sim card for while we are over. Our cell number here is 021 023 47339. Please send us a txt with yours! April will have this number for the next five weeks. Paul.
